We have broken this guide up into the following sections:
Analytics
Once you are happy with your website its important to monitor its performance and to do this we need to think about analytics. There are a number of analytics packages around, some are easier to use than others but we have found the best option is google analytics.
Analytical programs allow you to monitor how people use your website helping you spot what parts of your site are strong and what areas could use with more work. You can track how many visitors you are getting and how long they stay on your website.
You can also track which pages are being viewed the most. This can be great if you spot a page about a specific subject is being viewed much more than other pages. You can use that information to target promotional activity as you will have evidence that your clients are concerned with that specific subject.
Its also possible to see how people came to your website, did they type your web address directly into a browser or did they use a search engine. You can even expand things to find out which search engines are used and how often. It will also tell you what phrases people type in to a search engine to find your website. This can be vitally important if you want to increase the traffic you get from search engines.
